What is Tilted Uterus

The uterus is the organ where fetus grows. Normally the uterus is straight and vertical in a woman's body. Women with tilted uterus have uterus that are tilted towards the back of the body towards the rectum. Tilted uterus is also called tipped uterus, tipped womb, tilted womb, retroflexed uterus, backwards uterus, .

  • Some women are born with tilted uterus.
  • Some women when they age, the uterus does not move to the straight position.
  • Giving birth to a child(ren) can cause the uterus to tilt backwards because the ligaments stretch and did not go back to the original position.
  • Scarring from endometriosis or fibroids
I personally have been told by own doctor that it will not effect me from getting pregnant. But I often wonder... Which is why I started this website. To collect more data from other women who have tilted uterus and if it has caused them problems getting pregnant, staying pregnant, or miscarriage.

It is believed that usually between the 10th -12th week of pregnancy, the uterus will no longer be tilted.  If the uterus does not move into a straight position, miscarriage can occur, but this is very rare. I read a lot of stories onwww.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com where women with tilted uterus are often told they are having miscarriage but the babies are hiding due to their position in their mother's tilted uterus.
