Whenever you are diagnosed with a medical condition it’s a good idea to learn everything you can about it. This will give you the information you need to live with and treat your condition.
What is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?
Polycystic ovary syndrome is also known as PCO or PCOS. This is a fairly normal medical condition which forms in the ovaries. It can be quite difficult to diagnose as some women will not experience any symptoms.
The ovaries normally increase in size when a woman is suffering from PCOS. This can be detected with an ultrasound scan.
The cysts are very small and don’t normally grow larger than 10mm.
Symptoms
A woman suffering from Polycystic Ovaries will rarely ovulate or produce eggs which can be fertilized. This means that the lady is much less fertile than normal. As a result she will not have regular periods and may not have one for many months.
Other symptoms include putting on extra weight and growing extra hair all over the body.
This condition is very common in women who are infertile. This will affect 10% of women who are between 15 and 50 years of age. It’s much more common in people who have problems with ovulation and periods.
Around 25% of all women will suffer from polycystic ovaries and most of these cases are detected through ultrasound.
Causes of PCOS
PCOS seems to be more likely to affect you if you have family members who also suffer from the condition. This suggests that the condition is caused by a faulty gene.
Studies have also discovered that overweight women are more at risk of the condition. It’s important to keep your weight under control to improve overall health and reduce the chances of suffering from Poly cystic ovaries.
Symptoms of PCOS
There are different symptoms of polycystic ovaries and you may experience one or more of them. These include:
- Infrequent Periods or No Periods – This is one of the most common symptoms experienced. This could mean that a sufferer will only have one or two periods per year.
- Hair Growth – Sufferers also experience more facial and body hair. This normally grows above the lip, on the legs, abdomen, chin and arms.
- Acne – Acne is another very common symptom which is normally confined to the face.
- Infertility – Infertility is a common symptom due to the missing or infrequent periods.
- Miscarriage – Sufferers of Polycystic ovaries will also be more likely to experience miscarriages, sometimes this is a recurring problem.

PCOS Consequences & Effects
CONSEQUENCES OF PCOS (or) POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME
If you have ovarian cysts, it is possible that you also suffer from a
health condition called PCOS. PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a
complex metabolic, hormonal, and insulin disorder related condition.
The
long-term health consequences of PCOS may include but are not be
limited to:
Cardiovascular Disease
This is a primary consequence of PCOS. Insulin resistance is linked to heart problems and may cause endothelial dysfunction, diabetes and other abnormalities. PCOS is also associated with decreased fibrinolysis, increased C-reactive protein levels, and increased carotid intimal thickness which can all lead to Cardiovascular disease)Diabetes
Insulin resistance associated with PCOS often leads to beta-cell exhaustion of the pancreas and ultimately to diabetes.Ovarian Cyst-Associated Disorders
Women with PCOS have reproductive abnormalities, including increased Ovarian Cyst-induced hypertension, and preeclampsia. This condition is develops in late Ovarian Cyst and is characterized by excessive gain in weight, albuminuria, migraines, visual impairments and generalized edema.Elevated LDL "Bad" Cholesterol
This is a synergistic effect of PCOS that leads to chronic elevated triglycerides.Cancers - Secondary Consequence of PCOS
PCOS women have 2.5 fold greater risk of having an endometrial cancer.Damage to Your Reproductive System
PCOS and Ovarian Cysts Can Seriously Hinder Your Chances of Getting Pregnant.Seizures and High Blood Pressure
As you can see, This is another Consequence of PCOS as Ovarian Cysts and PCOS are not conditions you want to ignore.Over the last 14 years of training and consulting hundreds of women on treating ovarian cysts and improving fertility, quite a few patterns started to emerge and I noticed most women with ovarian cysts and PCOS women were falling into many of the same common traps. This results in the above consequences of PCOS. It seems fairly common for most women to either try birth control pills, watchful waiting, taking pain relievers , hormonal supplements or following a specific diet. The time wasted doing these mistakes and the consequences of neglecting the root cause of ovarian cysts are often huge and irreversible: in short it can make your condition worse. The shortage of estrogen is not the cause of ovarian cysts so taking birth control pills will not help. Removing the cyst or the ovary will not help either. But something changed immediately when these women started using the specific techniques that I revealed to them. They finally started getting results naturally after years of struggling to get rid of their ovarian cysts using conventional methods!

Signs of Fibroid Tumors - Bulky Uterus
Fibroid tumors can come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. In fact some can be as small as a marble and others can be as big as a grapefruit. However we should all be aware of one fact; they can be extremely painful and uncomfortable.
In fact an enlarged uterus is one of the many signs of fibroid tumors that many women will experience. Research has shown that a uterus of a woman can become extremely large; in fact it can grow to the size of someone who is pregnant.
I wanted to list some of the signs of fibroid tumors that you can expect to notice if you are suffering from this condition. However you should be aware that a lot of the times you will never be able to detect if you have fibroid tumors; unless you get a physical from your doctor.
1. Enlarged Uterus: You will of course experience a lot of pain in that area and discomfort.
2. Painful Urination: If you are constantly in pain when you urinate; it could be one of the symptoms of fibroids.
3. Heavy Or Long Menstrual Cycles: Many women will experience long and heavy periods each and every month. This is known to be one of the signs of this condition.
4. Abnormal Bleeding: Even though I already mentioned that you could experience longer periods; you may even begin to notice some spotting in between your periods
5. Infertility And Miscarriage: Unfortunately fibroid tumor have been known to prevent the birth of a normal healthy baby; because they can easily block the fallopian tubes which can prevent the cycle or development of your baby.
These of course are just some of the symptoms of fibroids that you may begin to experience. Of course some women may not ever experience any signs of this condition until it is too late. Every women definitely needs to be made aware of this condition and what they can begin doing to prevent it and how to begin treatment of fibroids from home.
