What is Misoprostol Termination of Pregnancy ?

WHAT IS MISOPROSTOL TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY?

During the first trimester of pregnancy, a woman can choose between the medical and surgical abortion methods. Medical services include the injection of drugs in the system or the use of oral contraceptives. As the fetus continues to grow, surgical techniques must be used to terminate the pregnancy. Medical execution is a better option than surgical abortion in most women. The mixture of two drugs is commonly used in this process. One is mifepristone, anti-prog intestine, which is available in Europe under the name RU-486. This is used together with prostaglandin misoprostol, marketed in the United States under trade name Cytotec. Another option is the use of methotrexate, which is also used to treat cancer, arthritis and psoriasis, as well as an ectopic pregnancy. This is used in combination with the misoprostol medical abortion method.

misoprostol Abortion Methods

Vacuum suction can be used to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy surgically. This must be used between 6 and 12 weeks after conception. There are two ways this can be done, manually or by machine. Manual vacuum may be done between 3 and 6 weeks after the last period. With the help of a syringe, the tissue is aspirated out of the uterus. As the tissue is expelled, it contracts the organs.

Vacuum machine can be used after 6 weeks of pregnancy. This is one of the most commonly used abortion methods nowadays. Before departure, the cervix is dilated and a hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into the cervical canal. When it comes to having a successful (and healthy) abortion, it is better to do it during the early pregnancy stage so that you can recover faster. If you meet your doctor early, you might only need to take pills or injections to terminate the fetus. Once you get past the first quarter, things get more difficult and risky for the mother. If you are pregnant, then you might have morning sickness, too.

Spontaneous, herbal and induced abortions are the three main abortion methods. Although not as popular or necessary in modern times, there is a method called self-inflicted abortion, too. Most people do not believe self-inflicted abortion to be among the best abortion methods.

HERBAL ABORTION

One of the oldest forms of abortion is herbal abortion, which is also considered very safe. The result of an herbal abortion sometimes is just a sick pregnant woman or could be worse than self-inflicted abortion. For hundreds of years, a number of plants were used to carry out herbal abortion. These herbs are asafoetida, Aristolochia, black cohosh, pennyroyal, tansy, etc., some of which have disappeared. Modern plants are also used by some people such as juniper, lavender, parsley, thyme, marjoram and dill. These herbs can cause abortion involuntarily.

Chemical abortion methods are a combination of drugs that can effectively terminate the pregnancy or end it. Drugs such as mifepristone or methotrexate are used for abortion, which is followed by prostaglandin. Prostaglandin is available in two types and it use depends on which abortion is performed. Gemeprost is used in Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. Misoprostol is widely used for abortion and is one of the common abortion methods.

  1. Well explained! Very helpful post. Medical abortion is the most safest way of abortion but it depends on the condition of the mother and the fetus. There are instances that it needs immediate removal of the fetus thus it requires to undergo surgical abortion.
